As a complete gym newbie coming off an ACL injury, I was nervous about whether I’d know how to do the exercises or stay consistent. But the way Coach Sarg set everything up, with video demos, a clear checklist, and regular check-ins through social and email made it feel personal, not clinical.

After 12 months of hard work, I’m running again, without surgery. I’ve built strength, confidence, and consistency in ways I never expected. I’m rating my journey a 7/10, not because it wasn’t amazing, but because I know I’ve still got plenty more left in the tank.

Read My Story

“I am Stephen Batty, People call me Sarg”

Growing up in Mount Isa, Queensland, Stephen had an early love and appreciation for sport and all forms of human movement, and a respect for injury rehabilitation

Fast forward to 2010 Stephen started a Bachelors of Education but quickly changed to Sports & Exercise Science, at James Cook University in Townsville. It was here, Stephen found a love for the art of coaching, learning the foundations and theory behind strength & conditioning, evidence-based nutrition, injury rehabilitation principles and person-centred health promotion.

After operating Sargent-HP as a primarily outdoor fitness based service for 4 years in Rockhampton, Queensland, Stephen completed his Masters in Clinical Exercise Physiology, furthering his knowledge base in helping provide exercise to a range of clinical populations including cardiac & respiratory, metabolic & renal, cancer, workplace injury rehabilitation, public health strategy and evidenced-based research and ethics.

Stephen launched his Strive to Be online program in 2024 and has helped a range of different clients to achieve their goals, improve productivity, increase daily energy and improve their health & wellbeing,

Coach Sarg's Feedback: Flynn started with me being able to move 40kg comfortably, and 60kg for a 1RM on his back squat to a low box, since starting the program we have progressively overloaded, scaling week by week, with him hitting a 1RM of 95kg in the first week of August!

What is the Program Structure?

Upon completing your signup payment you will receive access to your exercise prescription software - a web based app that sends your workout information directly back to Stephen for review and analysis. Along with this you will receive access to a weekly meal planner with macronutrient information, grocery lists & recipes to eliminate all the thinking required. Online clients receive 2 x 15 minute weekly calls to ensure you are on-track and addressing any barriers to success.

What is the main philosophy behind Empathetic and Evidence Based Guidance Training?

Building upon clinical knowledge from 6 years of study and research, I believe that everyone should be treated equally and given an opportunity to manage their own health, through consistent exercise and mindful lifestyle habits. The Strive to Be Program combines all facets of health delivered in key weekly education to provide clients with the skills to self manage their day to day productivity, health & reach their goals.

What can I expect from the Strive to Be program?

You can expect to be sore from working hard - but be glad that you did it.

You can expect to see improvement in not only your health - but your concentration, work performance & social connections

You can expect to see results based on your goals - whether it be a metric such as weight lost, muscle gained, lifts improved by X, improved scores on subjective questionnaires, increased scores on clinical outcome measures - we are not just guessing, but testing

Safety measures for NDIS, Medicare, DVA & Rehabilitation?

Having completed extensive study in chronic disease management & rehabilitation principles, Stephen displays the utmost safety and care for each client when completing their exercise sessions. A comprehensive Risk Assessment has been completed for all available spaces and able to be viewed upon request, with day to day management of the exercise space to eliminate the risk of trips, slips & falls.

Can I try before I sign up?

Most certainly, following on from your Discovery Call & Lifestyle Deep Dive, you will have a 7-day cooling off period where you can discuss with your coach if the exercise & nutrition programming will be right for you, and in the unlikely situation your circumstances have changed, we will gladly remove you from further payments
